Te Araroa 19- Ocean Beach Campground to Ruakaka campground.

I got up at 5:30 and walking at 6:30, big climb up to a ridge. Old WWII radar station. Then up and down on the ridge. The far end of the ridge I met Elliot the girl in red that has her birthday on St. Patrick’s day. I’m sure there’s a book in that, “Elliot the girl in red”. Down 600 steps to sea level. Then a 5km road walk. The ferry only runs Monday to Friday so I asked a friendly fisherman if he drop me over to the other side of the large shipping estuary. I offered to pay be he did it free. Then a quick shop and 6km down the beach. Had to ford a river up to my waste and it felt like quicksand. A hot shower always makes you feel better. I had to ask a campervan for shampoo.

Thought for the day.

Right Direction

I got totally disoriented today. I was half way across the ridge and had to go thought a rock crevice and came out the other side. I could sware that I was heading the wrong direction. The sea should have been on my left but with the cloud I couldn’t see it. I could hear the sea on my right so was I walking the wrong way. I looked at the map and it said I was going in the right direction. The path was new so I wasn’t backtracking. I had to commit and keep going.

Sometimes we get lost on our walk of faith. We grow cold, we loose our way. We rebel, we jump and shout, we walk the wrong way.

When we realise we are going the wrong direction the best suggestion is look at the map. We find a lot to help us find the way in the bible. Jesus said He was the way, the truth and the life. Jesus is always there to call us back and is waiting with open arms.

The sea I was hearing was the waves that were behind me not the waves on the right direction. We need to sometimes ignore the distractions that cause us to go off course.

If you’ve wandered off course please come back. Don’t let distractions prevent you. If you’ve never found “the Way” then come to Jesus right now.
