Goddard Shelter.
Vermont is known affectionately as Ver-MUD by hikers and it does live up to that description. Lots of mud and then a very steep down hill with rocks in the morning but at the bottom was 3 trail magics. One with bars and soda, one with beer and doughnuts, one with veg and fruit. I went to all three!!!! Then 3000 climb, I was exhausted by the time I reached shelter. High Route had a fall on the rocks, he’s ok but some bad cuts. He has vertigo and coming down is always an issue. I caught up with him this morning and he actually camped at a beaver dam and said it was the best camping spot yet. I think the next few days are good weather so the track will be drying out.
Thought for the day.
The Potter and His pot.
Jeremiah 18:3-4
[3] So I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was working at his wheel. [4] And the vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter’s hand, and he reworked it into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to do.
Jeremiah 18:12
[12] “But they say, ‘That is in vain! We will follow our own plans, and will every one act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart.’
This passage in Jeremiah is taking about the children of Israel and their disobedience. But I think we can also take it as how he deals with us.
In our stubbornness we go our own way and quite often damage ourselves. The great news is that the Potter (God) can take our broken deformed damaged state and rework our clay into something beautiful. God never writes off people or thinks they are beyond repair. He is always loving and looking for us to return to Him.
