AT 117 - 23rd July [549.8]

Stratton Pond Shelter

Vermud is drying out well. No major mud issues today. I did notice something new, the forest this morning was new and only 20feet tall and let the sun through. Just as you were about to decide where to put your foot down the sun hits your eye and you hope your brain made the right decision. The other forest is 50 to 100 feet tall and it doesn’t seem to happen. A good 4000 feet climb today, it’s good to be pushed since New Hampshire is coming and 5 to 6 K mountain. Swim #26 today in the pond we are near.

The AT in Vermont is also following the Long Trail that ends in Canada. I hope I remember to follow the AT when they divide, or I’ll be in Canada and not Maine.
