AT 164 - 8th September [26.7] (K Day -3)

Rainbow Spring Campsite

Push a few extra miles today to get closer to Abol Bridge campsite. It is the end of the 100 mile wilderness. Hope to get there for real lunch and beer. Tonight’s camping is beside Rainbow Lake and I had a lovely swim. I stood on a rock out in the deep with my head just above water. Great way to cool down. BUT when I got in I had three big black leaches attached to my feet and legs. I pulled them off since I had no lighter with me to assist. But then I found twenty or more tiny ones (3mm) all over my feet. What a job to get them off. Now my towel has them all over it. I had them between my toes but hand sanitiser soon shifted them. Where they had bitten it pumped blood for quite a while, they secrete anticoagulant so the blood flows, and it sure did.
