AT 138 - 13th August [298.5]

Town & County Inn and Resort

1,900 miles done. I’m beat up, particularly my knees. I love the downhill but my knees are objecting. Today I made a rookie mistake, I was well away from  the hut and discovered I had no water. I reckoned I’d make the first water in 4 miles but luckily I came to a spring on the way up that was not on the map. The day was climb and decent and then up again, and finally a long long down. There was a lot of slab rock walking on the way up. Try putting a board  at 45 degrees and then put you foot flat on the board and straighten you leg to straight up. You have to trust you shoe grip and keep walking up. No great view’s because of clouds but a great day. Got to Inn exhausted but satisfied to get the whites in the rearview mirror. Southern Maine is still very tough but the whites kicked my butt.
