AT 79 - 13th June (1013.5)

Blackburn Trail Centre.

A day of achievements.

Passed the 1000 mile marker, all because of the first step.

Moved into a new state, West Virginia. Another state off the list.

Survived the rollercoaster section. I love rollercoasters but not one you have to walk. It’s 14 miles of steep up and downs. It’s like climbing the last section of Djouce 7 times. (See photo- shows 3) I controlled my heart and didn’t hit peak at all. Listen to your body.

I was exhausted and stopped at Blackburn Trail Centre. It was another 1.5 hours to shelter. The BRC maintains the trail and they allow hikers to stay free. 4 person cabin (I’m in bottom bunk), tenting, even a solar warm shower, well off cold!!!

Had dinner and then relax in main building veranda. I’m tired but worth it. Heading into Harpers Ferry tomorrow. The logical half way point but not true half. More of that tomorrow.

  1. Glad you survived the roller coaster!! It’s brutal for sure! You’re looking a little slimmer!
